What is my Social Security contribution while I collect unemployment?

Imagen lectura fácil Lectura fácil

While you are receiving unemployment benefits, Social Security contributions are paid by the State Public Employment Service (SEPE). This assumes the business contribution and will deduct 100% of the amount that corresponds to you from the amount of your benefit.

If you have accessed the benefit for the termination of your employment contract, you will contribute to Social Security for the common contingencies of: retirement, permanent disability, death and survival, temporary disability, family protection and health care. You will not contribute for unemployment, work accidents and occupational illness, Salary Guarantee Fund and Vocational Training.

The Social Security contribution base for the unemployment benefit will be the same as its regulatory base, regardless of the limits that apply to the monthly amount of said benefit.

If you are a fixed or discontinuous agricultural employee, the SEPE is responsible for 73.50% of the contribution to Social Security, with the remaining 26.50% being the responsibility of the worker and deducted from the amount of the benefit

If you resume the benefit after having suspended it or opt for a new benefit that may have been generated, the contribution bases are those of the benefit that is resumed or those of the new one, respectively. Regarding the contribution, the payment of the business contribution will be made in its entirety by the State Public Employment Service (SEPE) and the contribution corresponding to the worker will be fully borne by the latter.
